About Kedarnath Temple


Kedarnath Temple is a scenic spot located in the Himalayas. according to locals seeing a person gets salvation here. Every year lakhs of devotees come to visit Kedarnath. This place is situated at an altitude of 3580 meters above sea level. There is Chorabari Tal near Kedarnath from where the Mandakini river originates. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The back part of Lord Shiva is worshiped here and the structure of this temple is very mythological and very beautiful. The temple is made of gray-colored stone slabs. Kedarnath Temple is included in the Char Dhams and Five Kedars of Uttarakhand as well as twelve Jyotirlingas. Behind Kedarnath temple, you will see Kedar peak as well as different Himalayan peaks. Which further enhances the beauty of the temple.


If we go towards history, this place has been called Kedarkhand in Puranas. The Kedarnath temple was built by the Pandavas during the Mahabharata period. After that, this temple was destroyed and it was renovated by Adi Guru Shankaracharya.


People can come to Kedarnath only for six months. For the remaining six months, Lord Kedarnath is worshiped at the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath. The portals of Kedarnath are closed in winter after Diwali in the month of November and Kedarnath Lord is worshiped at OmkareshwarUkhimath. There is a belief behind the closure of the kapat in winter, here for six months the devotees worship, and for the rest of six months the gods worship


The best time to visit Kedarnath is July and September, during which the crowd remains less and beautiful views of nature are also seen during the journey.
